(Guys & Dolls - 2003)

Guys and Dolls was one of those musicals that, when I was at Drama School in the 1970's, we hoped to present but, because there were too few boys on the musical theatre course, we were always unable to cast it. Ever since then I have been looking for the opportunity to use the marvellous lyrics and music of this wonderful show.

Casting a show such as this is always a challenging task. I think we have been successful in that task and I know you will enjoy the performances of not only our talented men but our equally talented ladies as well.

Damon Runyan, a skilled storyteller and watcher of people, put together a fascinating collection of characters in his book, The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown and The Willow Tree Theatre Company brings these characters to life, in this performance of Guuys ans Dolls.

I have been privileged, once again to work with a company of actors who take the art of performance seriously and this is no small measure due to the professionalism instilled by our Company Manager, Irene Holland.  I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to her and to all those involved in producing Guys and Dolls.
